While so far, the drums in her yard may look like an eyesore, they could turn out to be a valuable, high-quality resource if the drums club survives, says Darci Clindon.

“I’m definitely planning on making this an art project,” says Clindon, who recently graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. “This is something I’ve been doing, having fun with it, and it’s kind of a surprise to me it’s been getting so much interest.”

The drums, which are painted black, are at least 20 years old. Some are old enough to be eligible for recycling, but several have holes, suggesting they could be used for making musical instruments or food containers. Clindon has played on a few drum sets in her life, so she doesn’t intend to sell them.

In Fergus Falls, the drums aren’t a big deal, but in Duluth, where there’s more of a drumming culture, Clindon plans to sell the drums online for the first time.
