the basemap has amazing levels of detail. if you zoom all the way in, you can find buildings, houses and other structures, roads, even boats in the water. you can zoom in as far as you like. if you look closely, you can see the textures on the road and buildings.
another feature that would help in creating long track is the ability to highlight roads directly from the basemap, saving you the trouble of having to drag the trackline (the green line and the red lines that you see in the screenshot) to the map. if the basemap isnt set up to show roads, you can use the workshop tools to link the features to each other, so you can toggle it on and off. if youre looking for that, its on the mapworks tab in the workshop.
notice that it doesnt zoom out to give a more view of the continents. if you enjoy maps and basemaps with much world coverage, youll probably appreciate the basemaps. the market basemap has the most coverage (europe and icons and the like) and most detail, and its also set up to give you turn-by-turn directions on pre-defined courses, instead of giving you the entire course directions.
i’m having a similar problem with my garmin edge 8000. i just downloaded the basemap module from garmin, and am getting a lot of graphics issues. what i have tried:
1) deleting the basemap module, and rebooting the device. this did nothing. the same graphics issues were still there.
2) installing a couple of basemap modules that looked as though they would work. in one case, they were incompatible with the downloader. in the other case, the downloader showed that the module was loaded, but nothing on the screen.
