tobe hooper made ‘the texas chainsaw massacre’ a cult classic; he made ‘eaten alive’ a cult classic; and now he’s made this movie! before i start, let me just say that this movie really is a cult classic and a true horror film with a great plot and a scary plot. when you first start watching it you’ll notice a lot of people like this movie and even love it. but after a few minutes of watching this movie you’ll find yourself hating it. it’s only after you’ve seen the movie a few more times do you start to understand why it’s so popular and why people love it so much.
the plot is pretty straight forward. the two leads, daryl and chris, are out on a camping trip and are attacked by an unknown person. they escape and make it to their car. they get out and start driving but then chris gets attacked by an unseen person. daryl stops the car and goes back to chris. he then sees an animal and goes to shoot it. the gun doesn’t go off and he then shoots himself. daryl then starts to drive and is almost hit by an unseen person. he then runs off a cliff and crashes in the middle of the desert. daryl and chris are both dead and they’re left to rot.
the two leads are played by gunnar hansen and dennis dun and they’re both very believable. they’re likeable and their chemistry is great. the characters are also realistic and they all help make the movie. you’ll be able to relate to them and their actions. the majority of the movie is action and the characters are just there to show how people can react in certain situations.
‘eaten alive’ was a good movie and i wish it would have been released earlier. it’s one of those cult classics that we should’ve already seen!
