i have tried it and it worked fine for me. here is the solution. boot into the bbb linux environment and mount the microsd as a secondary drive. if the disk image has been written to the microsd using winflashtool then you just need to copy the files to the bbb from your windows machine. you can then format the microsd card in the bbb and remove it from the machine. the files will be accessible on the bbb. the bbb is now ready to be powered up.

if you have any issues with the windows version of the tool then please install the debian version or contact the linux people at the debian package is maintained by > winflashtool 2.0

i have tried to install the latest version of winflashtool on bbb. i have used the following command but failed to install it..> winflashtool 2.0

hi @mefisto, i am not sure how many linux people are on this list but i use a 32 bit linux installed on a 64 bit machine and use the debian version of flashtool to write and read the images. i am using a 64 bit windows machine to write the images to the microsd. also i have tried with the latest version of flashtool.i have used this command to install the latest version and it failed for me. i am able to read the files on the bbb but when i try to write files on the microsd card in the bbb it gives me an error “bus error:1” and when i remove the microsd from the bbb and try to read the files i get an error “error: the process can not access the file because its being used by another process.” and i cant open the files. are there any solutions to this? thanks in advance @mefisto.

The following description assumes the latest BBB Debian Linux installation. If you are still using Angstrom please install the Debian Linux. No worries, it is very easy to do and there are many description out there that walk you through the steps. I just give an outline here assuming you use a Windows machine to write the Micro SD card. After a while the Linux environment should be visible on thescreen. If you use a SD card that offers more than 4GB of space like me you also want to increase the BBB Image Disk Space. First make sure you boot from the mircoSD card,then adjust the Linux partitionwith fdisk.
